Two more layouts from the Digisister meeting

It really does help me to pull a whole bunch of photos that I want to scrap in ACDSee down into that project bin. Then when I want  to scrap something I have SO many things to choose from and they are all awesome pictures!

So these are two more of the Digisis meeting layouts and they are layouts using Lilypad products.

DSD…

Digital Scrapbook Day – a weekend long excuse to shop for digi supplies!  I am no exception to this rule of course. I followed in the forums of the Lilypad, One Story Down and kept on Facebook. I did a little shopping at TLP, OSD, looked at Scrap Orchard, Sweet Shoppe, Scrap Matters, MSA and bought myself the November Scrap Stack to support that new website that we all love. I found a new template designer at Stuff to Scrap (M & M Designs). My online group the Digisisters did their part to keep the digital scrapbook industry alive as well. It was fun to see what all of them were looking at and buying. I myself made nine layouts for the weekends festivities.

I made five layouts for Lilypad designers:

Never let it be said that I think you are a geek or a nerd. I am so proud of your focus on education and your grades. I know it’s not easy in college to be this focused when others around you aren’t, yet you do it every day.

Two more

About my 2013 project:
Journaling reads:
I have a huge box filled with 100’s of photos, negatives, magnetic albums and mementos saved by my grandmother, Eloise. I was paralyzed by indecision on what to do WITH THEM and then it hit me!.. I could use the Project Life type system to organize them by family group, have a myriad of print sizes available to store the photos and mementos and have built in spaces to tell the stories that I know or ones that my family can share with me. Now my wheels are turning… I am going to conquer that box!

Two more BYOC layouts

I really love how the BYOC gives you so many different things to choose from all in the same color palette. They will all have different themes, different styles but really will all work together. Once you grab some things that work together, you always seem to find something else you have to add to the mix. For me that was Pink Reptile’s Build Your Own Butterfly this time. I just HAD to have them!!

One is called Create My Own Happiness

Journaling reads:
I have to remind myself quite often that you can be happy by yourself. It’s tough when your life is filled with married friends. They have someone to talk to, share their lives with… and I don’t. I wonder if I ever will again. This coming from the eternal optimist. The introspection gives way to optimism every time. It will happen, I have to believe it will and when I least expect it. Until then, I’ll create my own happiness.

Two more challenge layouts

I had two more challenge layouts left for the August Challenge at the Lilypad.  You would have thought I’d have managed to get the BYOC challenge taken care of when I was making my BYOC layouts at the beginning of the month but I never managed to get one done without pulling in my other supplies that WEREN’T BYOC.  The other was the journaling challenge about family jokes and stories. I’ve had one of “my stories” written for a couple of months about our Sunday dinners with our close friends, the Peraltas. There are always old stories shared with our kids. I wanted to document the story of the dinner traditions in my scrapbook albums.

Sunday Dinners

Journaling reads:
Sunday dinners with the Peralta’s are a tradition. It’s not every weekend due to the busy lives we lead but it is often. We’ll meet at a restaurant like Chili’s or Uno’s, have dinner and chat about the past week and what we have in store. We can catch up with each others work and school activities, classes, grades and friends. It’s one of our ways to maintain our friendship. Usually there will be at least one “story” told about our pasts, something the kids don’t know yet. It might be about when we were little, a random school or home memory, before we had kids or even stories about them when they were small. We told them about my infamous “nacho tossing” incident at a Super Bowl party while dating their dad and about Uncle Ken’s velcro wallet that he whipped out at a fancy French restaurant and embarrassed Aunt Aida to death. When Elysse is home from college, she ALWAYS plans time for at least one dinner with Aunt Aida, Uncle Ken and Simone. Soon Tommy and then Simone won’t live at home either. I hope they remember this tradition and treasure these everyday moments as much as I do.

The other is a new realization for me: I need my solitude!  I used to be able to work all week and then go, go, go all weekend long.  I just can’t do it and be happy anymore.  I need a certain amount of home, alone time so that I’m not mentally and physically exhausted on Monday.
This one had (I believe) my most expansive credit list to date:

Some Philmont layouts

The first one is kind of like the title page for this trip.  I’ve been in love with the “wood papers” and thought that this outdoor adventure trip would be the perfect spot to use them. I was able to round up a whole bunch of word art (which is like my favorite scrap thing) to flesh it all out.  I loved using the BYOC stuff from Little Butterfly Wings and from Michelle Godin for my layouts theme.  Just perfect!

The second is documenting the meaning of the little yellow duck that Tommy takes on all his scouting trips.

Last one to get current

I am amazed by the sheer number of layouts I’ve done as a guest polly at the Lilypad in July. I have done 27 layouts!! That has GOT to be a personal best for me!

Tommy has been at Philmont for the last several weeks taking in the beauty of nature. He arrived home late last night, stinky and happy to be home!  I know I’ll be scrapping a lot of his photos over the next couple of weeks. He sent me just a couple of photos from the first couple of days while he still had cell service. I wanted to scrap one of them. This was taken with his iPhone 4s and it’s awesome camera.  I definitely have camera envy now!

Journaling reads:
When you arrived in Albuquerque, New Mexico the crews rode the aerial tram to the top of Sandia Peak as part of your acclimation to the change in elevation there. I love that you sat down so that your hiking boots could be in the photo. It gives real context to what this trip was all about – your love of the great outdoors!

We Are Glass

There is a song on the radio now by Thompson Square which has been resonating with me. It’s the line about how we are the light that we LET shine through us.  So we are what we show people from inside of us. I find that to be a very positive message.

The CUTEST doodles

I was thinking about having stuff about London to be able to use to scrap about my love for the Olympics. That made me think of Kate Hadfield and her doodles, which led me to the Cool Brittania kit which just snuck into my cart this weekend… One of the things I noticed in the kit was the teacup and teapot which made me think of my collection of them that I don’t think I’d scrapbooked yet. One of Sara Gleason’s new Petunia templates was calling to me to use and that big deco pattern of Micheline’s new kit seemed to be perfect for the layout idea.

Journaling reads:
My collection started with an entire box of teacups from Norma. I have a teapot from Maurice Hall that was a family heirloom. I have an entire set of handpainted teacups and plates that were a wedding gift from the Beaty’s. Grandma added to my collection with teacups from Russia and from Italy. It’s been a labor of love.
