Last one for week 5

I finished Week 5.  After I started looking through the photos a few days ago, these sprang to mind to use.  I looked at the photos, noticed the blue in the photos and decided to choose that for paper.  The other elements were a lucky purchase when I did a search for camping stuff a few months ago.  ScrapGirls had a couple of comprehensive type kits that were perfect.  I bought them all!  (I have a lot of scout photos to scrap!)

Cilenia Curtis, at her new shop digitaldesignershop.com, started a year long challenge to scrap 10-10-10.  Many people are choosing to document things on the 10th of each month.  What made the most sense to me was to use it as a way to show ten memories from each month for our family.  This is a lot more doable for me than P365.  I admire people that can take a photo a day, I did it for just December 2008 and it was tough to remember.  This monthly summary is much more reasonable.  I hope to see some other posts in her Challenge Gallery!!

More Week 5

It’s been a lazy day for me.  I am actually still in my pajamas, I am almost ashamed to say it.  But I did manage to get completely caught up with the scout treasurer duties today.  I watched the Week 5 video and have managed to get 2 of 3 layouts done.  I’ll look at the other one tomorrow.  I need to be at least sort of caught up before next week.  Jessica’s tablet class was postponed until Monday and Stacy Julian’s LOM class starts Thursday.  Let’s not forget Tiffany’s class that starts later this month.  I did manage to get Picasa to completely search all my photos.  All the faces have been recognized.  I’ve created a number of “Tags” and categorized quite a few but not all yet.  I think that should be helpful as a start when I begin LOM.  I already found it useful today when I search for “feet”.  I also put in a tag for reflections.  Elysse has a remarkable knack for finding shots with our shadows and reflections.  I’m really looking forward to a layout featuring those.

Week 5

White space… an interesting topic.  This was one of the reasons I wanted to take this class.  I have always admired how Cathy Zielske is not afraid of white space.  I really think she is the master of it in the scrapbooking world.  I’ve always been one to put as much stuff on the page as I can.  It’s really tough to pull back and not do too much.  I’m going to try though.  We’ll see if my scrapbook pages start to look a little different.

My Buddy

Maybe these real world color assignments are getting easier for me.  I looked at the palette, then went strolling through my pictures for an autumn colored inspiration.  I found some photos of Jedi.  He is definitely autumn colored.  After that, I went looking through my papers and embellishments for things that fit the theme.

I like it, it makes me smile!

Week 4

Back to 12 x 12 at least a little.  It is different taking a class where I can use any photos at all.  It doesn’t have to be about me or anything at all specific.  I’m over scrapping about December even though I have to finish my DD.  I’ve scrapped a lot of ballet stuff recently.  This time I decided to do perhaps a cover page for our August cruise.

The next item for this week is a mini-album.  Gimme 5, 5 things about me and each of the kids.  I sent the request to Elysse at school.  I’ll hit up Tommy for a new photo and his 5 when he gets home from his dad’s tomorrow.

Maybe I’ll work on my 5 today.

Our big scare

Scrapping this event while it was still fresh in my mind, my emotions still very PRESENT, was cathartic for me.  Maybe this non-chronological thing is going to work out after all.  Using the real world color templates are still a little challenge for me.  I sat down and uploaded the photos from the hospital.  It struck me that there were red, green and blue in those photos and this might all work out to go together.  I had to search for hospital/medical embellies.  I didn’t have any in my stash {GASP!}  I hit all my go-to places and fell in love with the Emergency kit by Anna Aspnes at Designer Digitals.  It fit it all perfectly!!

Now it’s on to week 4.

Definitely an up and down week here.  That six hours in the car yesterday definitely made me tired today.  I’m actually considering going to be at 10 tonight.  I haven’t been to bed before 11:30 in a month or so.  Scrapping and checking emails is getting to be a habit for me.  I can focus on it after all the other stuff gets done.  It’s exciting to see all the layouts getting done, all those memories getting documented.  Then after I go to bed at 11:30 or later, I still write in my journal every night.  I  haven’t missed a night yet.  I’m actually almost finished with my first journal.

Week 3 DYL

Tough night!  Elysse went to the clinic at school today because she still wasn’t feeling well after the whole giving blood/fainting thing last week.  Then she texts and says she’s going to the ER.  Phone calls and texts  a flyin’ for hours.  Long story, she was admitted for the night with high blood pressure.  Better safe than sorry.  More texts, giving her potassium, this is helping.  Then she says she’s seeing a cardiologist in the morning.  Do I go or not go?  What do I do???

Top that off with Tommy’s mad search for lacrosse strings that he HAS to have by Friday.  He ended up driving to Waterford Lakes by himself.  He did great!

So between the texts and the worrying I finished up the week 3 layouts that I was almost done with.

Another page for DD

I did a year in review layout today.  Tamara, from my YT Spragrounders group, used the Songbird Ave Nov 09 heart shaped template to do a year in review layout to put in her DD book.  It inspired me to use it as well.
