Three More

One layout from Grandma’s photo box, one from my Digisis Colorado trip and one strictly everyday layout from a conversation I had with Elysse this week.

Grad School

Journaling reads:
Today was Grad School Day at FAU. You met with representatives for many universities. The FAU and UF programs are the most interesting as they are in your preferred field, neuroscience. You got feedback about GRE requirements and other insights into the programs. A day well spent!
I can’t believe you’re almost in your last semester and planning for your graduate degree already! But you’ve always looked toward the future with a plan to make your dreams come true!

A contemplative layout

Sometimes CT kits immediately spark an idea for what to use, what to do, where to put my focus. Others take a little while, maybe even a day or two.  On the surface, any sort of wedding, lovey dovey kit is not easy for a divorced woman to use, let’s face it. But I like to turn the ideas over in my head and come up with a story to tell.
Journaling reads:
It’s not like I sit around all day lamenting the fact that I’m divorced, but there are certain holidays and times of the year that it hits me. I am a true believer in romance and happily ever after and I have a stack of romance novels to prove it.
So sometimes it’s tough to accept that I didn’t get my fairytale  romance. My prince turned out not to be charming. But I just can’t focus on that aspect because I did get my happily ever after, the best possible kind.

You two are my happily ever after, the absolute best things that came out of my marriage, the reason for me being the person I am today and I truly am blessed to have you in my life. Mom

More fun scrapbook news

I’ve really been enjoying CT work this past year. I find that having perpetual inspiration in the way of kits or templates or just subjects gives me continual opportunities to get layouts done. I actually printed 150 layouts last weekend that I did February and after this year! I was amazed to have completed that many layouts. I also like to continue to grow my skills and expand my creative side. I had a guest spot at the Lilypad in July and August and that gave me a taste of what a store CT does. {And I enjoyed the heck out of it!} Then, I had the month-ish as store CT for ZZS before they closed. So, the other forum that I frequent One Story Down had a CT call. I applied thinking maybe a guest spot… I mean, many of the layouts in their gallery are very artsy… very different from my personal style as it stands right now. It took a while to hear back. There was a thread on their forum where some scrappers who had applied were commenting. When I looked at their layouts, I was floored, so beautiful! So now I think, no possible way…

Then the next morning, I saw a congratulations message to several of my team mates on River Rose CT. I went to offer my congratulations to them and noticed my name was on that list too!  VERY EXCITED about this opportunity! A lot of wonderful designers, some more traditional, some really art journaly, a real eclectic mix and an awesome place to be!

So here are my first four layouts at One Story Down:

About my 2013 project:
Journaling reads:
I have a huge box filled with 100’s of photos, negatives, magnetic albums and mementos saved by my grandmother, Eloise. I was paralyzed by indecision on what to do WITH THEM and then it hit me!.. I could use the Project Life type system to organize them by family group, have a myriad of print sizes available to store the photos and mementos and have built in spaces to tell the stories that I know or ones that my family can share with me. Now my wheels are turning… I am going to conquer that box!

Going to be doing several posts today to get caught up with all the new layouts!

One about Halloween last year

One about my mom at 17
Journaling reads:
This is my mother, Beverly Ann Garvin (later Grimes Hall) at age seventeen. She was in her senior year at Maynard Evans High School in late 1960 or early 1961. I wonder when I look at this photograph –  what did she want to BE? Did she see herself with a job or a career in five years? Or did she see herself as a wife and mother? Did she anticipate just how much her life would change?

Two more layouts

I’ve really enjoyed using One Little Bird’s kits recently.  She really makes unique elements in her kits that catch my eye and they are versatile enough to coordinate and THAT”S awesome!

The first is Lona, a layout about my great grandmother, Eloise’s mom. She died well before I was born so I never met her. She had a really hard life though. I have only a handful of photos of her.

The second is about my collection of sweaters for when the weather gets remotely cool (which for me could be low 70’s 😉

Journaling reads:

I want to wear my sweaters and turtlenecks! To me, there’s nothing more cozy than a soft, cotton turtleneck. We don’t get to wear wool much here in Florida. I’ll break it out below 40 degrees (which to me is FREEZING) but I have to be careful as I’m allergic to wool directly against my skin. Ah… a turtleneck, sweatpants and socks curled up with a book on the couch. Can’t wait for sweater weather!

One about my coffee habit…

I did this layout using a kit by Jen Maddocks Designs. Jen is now officially moved over to Oscraps.

Journaling reads:
I have a love affair with coffee, a deep passionate one. It’s not a secret, I don’t try to hide it. My children know that if I run out of coffee it’s a bad thing, running out of coffee creamer is even worse. My preference is flavored coffee, hazelnut, vanilla, Jamaican blend, Santa’s White Christmas. Coffee cream is whatever looks scrumptious! I drink it hot in the morning and at night as dessert. I make an extra cup for iced coffee in the morning. Funny thing is that I drink decaf,  just love the flavor of coffee, can’t have the caffeine!
