Two layouts for The Lilypad

Pen Love – I did this for the journaling challenge at The Lilypad for September. It was to be about something I’m passionate about. Of course, my first thought was the kids, being a mother but I couldn’t come up with anything specific I wanted to use. I was sitting at my desk, staring at all the different pens and pencils next to me, in the two pencil cups and in the multiple drawers where I keep even more of them… realizing these were only my WORK pens not any of the bazillion I have at home or in my purse and decided I’m probably passionate about them, too! So I went with a more light-hearted approach.

Yes She Did – this layout was completely inspired by the word art that said “Yes She Did”. Elysse gave me all of her cruise photos to scrap with if I wanted and the ones of her doing the zip line and the rock climbing wall were awesome! I knew I wanted to scrap them.

I’m… paper scrapping too….

I imagine a few of my digisisters are going to laugh when they read this but I actually put together a {gasp!} paper scrapbook page today. I haven’t done anything with paper other than the occasional pocket page in YEARS!! I got the new Sycamore Lane line from Elle’s Studio and I just couldn’t help myself.

I’ve been brainstorming how I wanted to do our family 30 Days of Thankful this year. Because there are three of us, we each tell about something for which we are thankful for 10 days in November. One  year we did physical cards in our PL album which was paper/hybrid that year. Last year, I did actual layouts that summarized the comments for each of us. Because both of them are away at college, I wanted to get back to the handwritten cards this year. I showed Elysse what I was up to and she said she was up for a project. I created a two sided page using Design F and primarily the Sycamore Lane kit from Elle’s Studio. There are 10 designated spots for journaling the thoughts for the day and I used a lot of the embellishments and pretty cards as fillers. I LOVE the way it turned out! I’ll send her back with it and a few journaling pens and when she comes home for Thanksgiving I’ll be able to put it right into the family PL album.

And so… I’m looking at all the pretty papers and the embellishments that I didn’t use and I actually set up a paper page. All the chickens should be home this weekend, we’ll get a family photo or two and I’ll put this baby together!

Two more weeks done for 2014

I’m well into my second album for 2014 now and have actually printed all of them up to last week as of today. I plan to take advantage of Persnickety Prints’ semi-annual sale to get caught up on my printing of PL and I’ve already stocked up on more credits.

I do absolutely LOVE looking at these layouts!

Week 35 – using Just Jaimee’s Storyteller for October. I love all the paint, the textures, the hand drawn/colored elements. It’s just stunning!

Week 36 – Mye used a lot of gorgeous hand drawn elements in her papers and other items this month.

For The Pocket Source Saturday Review

This is the first layout about Elysse and Jorge’s Bahamas Cruise

Like most scrappers, it feels pretty good when we get a positive comment in a gallery somewhere. I’m thinking that my daughter’s comment that she MIGHT have teared up looking at this is probably the BEST comment I’ve received so far!

I absolutely love to go shopping at Sweet Shoppe Designs! I think it’s because the styles are so varied, I can find exactly what I’m looking for and generally in several color schemes and levels of realism and dimension. The pocket scrapbooking section of the shop is filled to the brim with not only the expected journal cards and page templates but also with coordinating kits. You can find cards and word art to document your family’s weeks/months but also themed kits and bits to scrap vacations and holidays. There are frames and flair, transparencies and wood veneers, word strips and stickers, doodles and labels. And all kinds of templates!  I’ve become quite the collector of layered collage templates, both in 3×4 and 4×6 sizes, those for photos and those designed mostly for capturing your journaling. Use a couple of those and my layouts look oh, so polished.
